Luminar Neo is a mixture of amazing AI effects and surprising omissions. That aside, Luminar Neo seems quicker than Luminar AI, but still not quick by regular photo editing software standards. It could be a random glitch with our iMac. In fact it did respond, but only after 30 seconds.Įven worse than that, we ran into serious memory leaks when importing large collections of folders and sub-folders, with RAM usage steadily climbing to 11, 12 then 13GB, and that was after the Luminar Neo 1.0.1 update. Once a preset was applied, the Develop tool stopped working – or it appeared to. Worse, we had some serious operational issues on our test machine, a quad-core iMac with 16GB RAM, so not exactly underpowered. It’s a long way from the speed and intuitiveness of DxO’s control point adjustments, for example, or even a radial filter in Lightroom. The Relight AI tool proved a disappointment too, just making a fairly crude and obvious guess at where the foreground and background were and offering simple exposure controls to darken/lighten them. They don’t even approach the scope and inspirational quality of the presets in the DxO Nik Collection, for example, ON1 Photo RAW or Exposure X. Luminar AI used AI to analyse your photos to suggest suitable Preset collections, and we assume Neo does the same, but the presets on offer just look like random variations of contrast and color tone. On the downside, Luminar Neo’s presets are distinctly uninspiring. It had to think about this image (left) for a short while, but then it magically removed the power lines (right) as if they were never there. The power line removal tool is rather remarkable. Luminar’s Face, Skin, Body AI and other portrait tools are the best there are, and worth the price alone if you regularly need to enhance portraits – and they are as subtle and sympathetic as you need them to be. The dust removal works well too, though you may need to apply it a second time if you do a lot of contrast enhancement work that brings out some more that was missed the first time around. The new power line removal tool is uncannily good, even in city streets where the lines run across buildings and stonework. The AI Sky Replacement tool never ceases to amaze, and for the most part it blends new skies with existing images with no visible edge effects or artefacts – though sometimes you can get a ‘glow’ effect around foreground objects. Some of Luminar Neo’s AI tools are quite remarkable. I'm back on the hunt for a package that isn't LightRoom (can't justify the subscription). We threw everything at this image (obviously), but while Luminar's AI can do the heavy lifting with special effects, you still need a clear idea about the image you want to achieve (unlike us). How about no - what the blazing f- is a photo-editing application doing to trip up anti-virus? Their official advice was "turn off your anti-virus". There's a thread here from the 4.3 release when it would hang on the splash screen. You simply can't trust it with your catalog. At this point, Luminar is worthless for anything other than single edits. But that's the problem, they made some good plugins and now they've decided to do DAM, they've realised writing actual software is hard. I shudder to think how it copes (or doesn't) with the 40-50+MB RAWs some modern bodies produce. I'm editing RAWS, but only from a decade-old Canon 550D. Edits are laggy when moving sliders (I would accept this for complex or "AI" edits, but not for basic-bitch exposure changes).Previews take longer to load (multiple seconds) when culling/rating.Yet compared with Aperture on a 2008 Macbook (2c/2t, 4GB RAM): Hundreds of edits and ratings across thousands of photos. When I hit "export" it did indeed export the selected photos, but yeah - it's dumped the entire catalog. I very deliberately clicked "no", at which point the entire H:/ drive disappeared from my catalog. Seemed odd as I was in the exports dialog and definitely hadn't asked it to remove anything. Last night I went to export some edits and whilst selecting the export destination, a dialog popped up asking if I was sure I wanted to remove "that" folder (the entire folder) from my catalog as this would delete all my edits and ratings. They're free right? I just used some OSB from a pallet/crate that was stamped "Reject - all other stamps VOID" so, consider your re-use, if it might be structural. It's either wood that is un-graded air-dried (maybe) stuff that wasn't ever going to become furniture or framing lumber, or it is stuff that didn't meet the grade, or culls from the lumber yard. The wood is usually some form of "reject" to begin with, despite how nice some of it looks. I may even just cut all the stringers out, resulting in two shorter deck boards, but without the risk of splitting at all.Īnother thing is too be realistic about yield. So, depending on that, I may opt for just sawing off the two side stringers and only pry the boards off of the center stringer. If I am realistic about my use of the boards, I acknowledge that I will often cut away the nail holes and splits at the ends. A 3 foot nail puller is a good companion, since these nails get in the way of further use of the pallet buster. Sometimes the nails pull out with the boards, sometimes the nails tear through the boards and remain in the stringers. On pallets of "fair" or "poor" condition, I find it a crap-shoot as to whether the boards will split or crack at the ends, usually the middle makes it whole, but not always. I find it works well on pallets in "good condition" and the swiveling pads do make a great difference over other pry-bar methods. I have since gotten that tool, and make good use of it. If it's just rough boards for building you could use a small sledgehammer instead of a rubber mallet, since denting wouldn't matter. All of the nails should be driven up enough that you are able to grab them with a claw hammer. Hold the board over an anvil or a section of I-beam and smack the board with a rubber mallet, just behind the nails. Suppose you've got dozens of pallet boards that have been separated and they are all filled with nails. You can start them out just about an inch narrower than the gap in the pallet and have them end two inches wider. Now use the sledgehammer to drive the wedges until their tips hit the wall. It would end up looking like Vlad the Impaler has taken over a portion of your yard.Ī twist on the wedge idea, would be to have the same three wedges and put the edge of the pallet against a foundation wall. This may just remove the boards from one side, but it would be very quick to do. Stand a pallet on top and smack it down, hitting the rails with a small sledgehammer. If I were trying to dismantle many pallets of roughly the same size, I would put three stakes in the ground and then cut the tops so that they become big long wedges. I can imagine other set ups, where a treadle or such translates body weight into expansive force, maybe power hammer style, but this idea seems more reasonable right now. Ideally the 2x3 lumber will apply force in such a way as to easily pop the fasteners cleanly out of/through the wood.Ī potential problem I see are one of each pair of 2x3's being too far from the deck boards/stringer joint, so it just smashes through the deckboard.Īnother potential problem I see is the 2x3's being too weak to handle the force. To use, slip the device inside of a pallet, slide a floor jack between the 2圆 boards and operate the jack. One board of each pair would be through bolted to a common 2圆 board, the other board of each pair to another such board. I have an idea for a jack powered pallet buster.Īll it would be is eight 2x3's arranged in 4 pairs.Įach pair would be through bolted together 3" side to 3" side via one 3/8" bolt at the end of the boards. It didn't take too long, but faster would be better. Yesterday I cut up some pallets and built a new hen house. Many of the contributors embody overlapping cultural diasporas that suggest the porousness of borders, challenging the field to understand itself as a product of regional art histories. A number of the essays perform, through a combination of recollected early memory alongside scholarly research, the roots of the theories they explore through publishing, curating and archival work. The stories you will read take various forms – a letter written to a friend, a revisioned grant application, the pastiche of image and text, children’s fables, interviews, co-authored narrative, memoir, manifesto, apology. The contributors respond in a multitude of surprising ways, appealing equally to people enmeshed in the field through their work and to those simply interested in the field. A particular feature of the collection is that there are twice as many contributions by women than by men. Each of the contributors in this book has provided short, often very personal, contributions describing how they began to become passionate about their practice. There is a special focus on gender, race (including Whiteness), class, sexuality and transnationality – all of which are often marginalized in dominant art histories. All tours are booked on request depending on availability. This anthology, Storytellers of Art Histories, gives voice to those who are reshaping art histories: not only art historians and curators, but also archivists and artists.Tours are approximately 30 minutes and include a Q&A with the guide. There is a eight-person minimum to schedule a tour and tours can accommodate up to 25 participants.Led by our resident “Swiftie,” private guided tours for groups visiting Taylor Swift: Storyteller are a deep dive into the pop artist’s music history and the iconic fashion choices that bring her songcraft to life. Whether dressed down in a flannel shirt and untamed hair or literally dazzling her audiences in head-to-toe Swarovski crystals, Taylor gives greater meaning to the palettes, textures, and depths of feeling expressed in her songwriting. Swift has discussed the pressures that female musicians feel to constantly alter their public images, and regularly addresses gender norms in her videos, performances, and public appearances. Taylor’s emotional songwriting is the catalyst for the captivating worlds she brings to life on stage and screen through exquisitely crafted costumes, inventive stage design, and imaginative iconography. Concert attire by couture fashion houses are featured along with props, jewelry, ephemera, and projections of music videos rounding out the exhibition. H ighlights include the cheerleader and ballerina ensembles from the award-winning music video for “Shake It Off” (2014) the red wedding dress and bellhop uniform from “I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault),” which featured Miles Teller and was directed by Blake Lively (2021) and the sparkling ensemble from “Bejeweled” (2022), directed by Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift: Storyteller is a career-spanning look at the artistic reinventions of the 12-time GRAMMY Award – winning artist who is one of the most prolific songwriters in history. > soooo when i tried to open the eclipse that was bundled in the latest If You Dont Have A PATH On Top, Click New And Make PATH With Directory to Wherever Your Java Is Installed.īottom One Edit To Directory to Wherever Your Java Is Installed. "I didn't cut it right so I started off rough," opined Bobby. Bobby was the first to encounter problems when his beef was incorrectly sliced. For the entrees, Bobby was on meat, Jen had fish and Petrozza was on vegetables. However once she did deliver the right amount, Gordon had nothing but compliments for it.Ĭhristina and Corey continued to work well together and the appetizers started to fly out of the kitchen. Hell's Kitchen's eleventh fourth-season dinner service commenced, and Gordon immediately got on Jen's case for being "too static" and "flat-footed."Ĭhristina and Corey were on the appetizer station, and Christina caught some flack for preparing the wrong number of spaghetti lobster dishes. Gordon informed them that not only would the dining area be filled to capacity for the service with 120 patrons, they would also have to over come "one of the toughest hurdles" - the 12-top, a table of 12 people that all need to be served at the same time. The contestants then did prep work for the impending dinner service, with Christina quickly getting on everyone's nerves as she dispensed advice and barked orders. "Jen was basically eating food that was going into the garbage," said Bobby. However she also tasted some of the leftover food that was intended for the garbage. Jen made sure that she was always cleaning around where Christina was receiving her lesson and was able to pick-up a few pointers. For their punishment, the other four contestants would be required to clean Hell's Kitchen, from the fryers to the floors.Īs they cleaned, the contestants thoroughly bashed Christina and her cooking skills. "I think I would be able to teach anyone who wants to learn."įor Christina's reward, she'd enjoy lunch and a cooking lesson with two Los Angeles restaurateurs - Mark Peel, the executive chef and owner of Campanile, and Ben Ford, owner of Culver City. I really knocked this one out of the park," said Christina. Gordon called it a "tough decision" between Corey and Christina since their students prepared "two outstanding dishes," however he awarded the challenge's victory to Christina. The lack of culinary skills by Jen's student showed, as Gordon criticized it for being bland. Gordon thought Bobby's student prepared a dish that looked like dog food, and it tasted that way too. Corey and Christina's students prepared well-rounded dishes, with the pasta, lobster and seasoning all complimented. Petrozza's student had "delicious" seasoning and perfectly-cooked lobster, however the same couldn't be said for the pasta. Click here to visit our Google News page, and then click FOLLOW to add us as a news source! Reality TV World is now available on the all-new Google News app and website. Time expired and Gordon tasted all of the students' dishes. "I'm definitely hoping the student doesn't mess this up for me," opined Bobby. Corey liked her chances since she thought her student was "tougher" than the others Jen did some of the prep work for her student when Gordon wasn't looking and Bobby's student was afraid to kill the lobster. The challenge commenced and Petrozza obviously had other things than teaching how to cook on his mind, as he gentlemanly tied his student's apron and also helped get her hair out of her face. Each would have 45 minutes, and the teachers were not allowed to do any of the cooking or prep work themselves. The student that cooked the best lobster spaghetti would win the challenge for their teacher. The twist was that the students were "domestic housewives" who weren't domesticated at all and were probably better suited for The Real Housewives of Hell's Kitchen. Once the seminar was complete he revealed that for their next challenge, each contestant would be responsible for teaching a student how to make the dish. The next morning the five remaining contestants met Gordon in the kitchen, and he gave them a demonstration on how to properly prepare lobster spaghetti. "Jen's on her last leg as far as her attitude," said Christina. Louis, MO, put their differences aside and united to complain about Jennifer Gavin, a 24-year-old line cook from Chicago, IL. Meanwhile Corey Earling, a 25-year-old private chef from Brooklyn, NY, and Christina Machamer, a 25-year-old culinary student from St. "I really just didn't want to listen to him. Like many knee braces, this one is reinforced with spring stabilizers, which frame the kneecap, offering support and stability. "Wearing a knee brace can make people feel more confident after a meniscus injury, but it shouldn't replace the importance of addressing any movement, strength, or neuromuscular deficits-that’s the real heart of the issue," says Brandon Schmitt, DPT, ATC, Chair of the Knee Special Interest Group of the American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy.īecause the brace is designed to wrap around the knee, you can adjust its flexible straps to get the snug fit you’re looking for. We also love that the fabric absorbs sweat, so it promises to keep your knee dry and comfortable throughout wear. The knee brace is crafted from a breathable neoprene fabric that promises to offer compressive support without limiting flexibility or comfort. Bodyprox’s Knee Brace with Side Stabilizers offers much of what you’d expect from a knee brace-an open-patella design, adjustable cross straps, and spring stabilizers-at a decidedly affordable price, making it an excellent choice for those looking for support and relief on a budget. Many knee sleeves are available at a budget price, but it’s rare to find a knee brace that's as affordable. Key Specs: Style: Compression brace | Material: Neoprene | Adjustable: Yes The brace also comes equipped with a breathable back panel designed to manage moisture, so you can rest assured knowing your knee will remain relatively cool, dry, and comfortable as you go about your favorite activities. The knee brace is crafted from a compressive neoprene fabric that promises to keep your muscles feeling warm and relieved throughout wear. And, perhaps most importantly, the brace comes reinforced with geared side hinges, which will leave your knee feeling stable and supported without overly restricting your range of motion. The brace’s adjustable cross straps will allow you to get the snug fit you’re looking for while providing an extra layer of support above and below your knee. This will provide targeted support to your meniscus without leaving your kneecap feeling trapped or overheated. The brace boasts an open-patella design, which is engineered to direct compression around the kneecap. We chose the McDavid’s 429X Knee Brace as our top pick, because it offers an optimal balance of stability and comfort. A physical therapist from our Review Board also reviewed the contents of this article for accuracy, how to use knee braces for a meniscus tears, types of braces, materials, and how to evaluate them. After our thorough research and testing, we were able to generate this list. Editors from our team also tested two products on this list, Back on Track's Knee Brace and BLITZU's Compression Sleeve, in their personal daily routines. We researched dozens of knee braces for meniscus tears and evaluated them for support, comfort, fit, and value. That’s going to help with comfort and movement,” Dr. Finally, look for brace types called “unloader braces.” They "can take pressure off the injured side, whether it’s the medial or the lateral side. Braces that compress are usually made of neoprene or fabric, Dr. When looking for a brace for a torn meniscus, look for one that offers compression. Walter, MD, program director of Pediatric and Adolescent Sports Medicine at Children's Wisconsin. It's helpful if a brace is not too loose or tight, according to Kevin D. While not a substitute for surgery or physical therapy, braces can support and stabilize the knee. A torn meniscus is a tear in the cartilages between the femur and tibia, often caused by movements like sudden twisting, pivoting, and stopping. |
